International Rescue Committee Wichita, Cooking Demonstration Series: Afghan Chicken Korma with Abdul Satar
On January 2018, former refugee, US Army interpreter, and aspiring Computer Software Engineer Abdul Satar teaches how to make Afghan Chicken Korma to IRC Supporters and event attendees. Sponsors were First Church of the Brethren and Dillons

Congolese-style Ugali, Chicken and Fried Plaintains with Dorcas
On March 2018, Former Refugee and WSU Engineer Student Dorcas leads event attendees through this splendid, traditional family recipe. Sponsors were St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and Dillons.

Blaise Bigabwa works with IRC Wichita as a French, Kiswahili, and Kinyarwanda interpreter. On weekday mornings at the IRC office, you can find Blaise sitting behind the front desk on his laptop, ready to assist and interpret for clients who just finished ESL (English as a Second Language) class or accompanying caseworkers to appointments to help with interpretation.....
Keith Smith has logged in more than 235 hours of volunteering with the IRC Wichita. Broken down, that is thirty, eight-hour days, about six full weeks of work. Keith’s total number of volunteer hours reflect a deep level of commitment to and care for the refugee families arriving here in Wichita.....
The Safi family arrived in April 2018 and shortly thereafter, a long-time IRC Wichita volunteer, Wizie Eads, became a family mentor. That spring, Wizie and her husband Darwin were spending time with the family when they learned that one member, Shamsuddin (Shams) was walking 4 miles a day to take one of his children to school.....
